Known as Jon Moxley on the independent scene this future WWE Superstar has shined where ever he has competed. With decent mat skills and exceptional promo ability he has drawn comparisons to legends like Rowdy Roddy Piper and Brian Pillman. Becoming a wrestler in 2004, at the age of 18, with Heartland Wrestling Association, Ambrose was challenging for the heavyweight title within two years, forecasting what he would do in other independent promotions like Insanity Pro Wrestling,Combat Zone Wrestling, Dragon Gate USA, and other promotions before finally signing a developmental deal with WWE.
Here is an example of Ambrose’s promo skills. This two years old and I’d still pay to see that match. Dude can draw money.
Soon after arriving to Florida Championship Wrestling(WWE’s developmental territory) Ambrose was thrust into the spotlight, challenging another former independent star in Seth Rollins. However, Ambrose’s biggest and most news making move happened when he challenged established, bonafide WWE Superstar CM Punk when he was at FCW to do a meet and greet with fans. Instead of boring you with detail, I will just let you see how good of a match it was.
That was in front of maybe 300 people and they went out and had a match worthy of any PPV. While people have been saying for years that the WWE really hasn’t made any new stars I have to say they are doing a good job of collecting guys who can make themselves stars. I just hope once Ambrose gets to the WWE they let him work in his comfort zone instead making him seem like a cardboard cutout like so many other wrestlers they have.
