Coming back to Chikara, Cesaro aligned himself with Larry Sweeney's Sweet and Sour International stable before forming a tag team, AC/DC, with Arik Cannon winning Chikara's 2005 Tag Team Grand Prix after Chris Hero turned on Mike Quackenbush. Forming the tag team Kings of Wrestling, Hero and Cesaro would win the 2006 Tag Team Grand Prix to become Chikara Campeonatos de Parejas(Couples Championship). Glory would be short lived for Cesaro as Hero, with the help of F.I.S.T, beat Cesaro down, ending the KsOW for the foreseeable future as Cesaro had signed a developmental deal with the WWE.
It was not to be however, as Cesaro was released from his contract under murky circumstances. Returning to the independents, and eventually reforming KsOW with Chris Hero, Cesaro made waves in practically every independent promotion of note, winning tag team championships everywhere he and Hero competed for five years. With his unique style and decent promo ability it was only a matter of time before Cesaro received another call from the WWE. Debuting in October of 2011 Cesaro impressed everyone with his impressive ring ability.
