*Spoilers* Smackdown & NXT Review 2/28/2012

‎*Spoilers* Smackdown & NXT tapings from Seattle, Wa 2/28/2012

Disclaimer: I dont usually watch Smackdown. I find it to be boring most of the time when I do watch, and last nights tapings were no different. Being there live made the show a bit better, but for the most part it was flat in my opinion. I would really like it if Jesse Arnold and Andrew Yount would comment on this post with their view of this show as their opinions may differ. But until then, this is Smackdown & NXT as I saw it.

1. Dark Match: Ted DiBiase vs Hunico

I really dont get why WWE refuses to push DiBiase. He is a good worker with a great look. But thats not a decision the fans get to make, never will.

Oh, and Hunico's bike is sweet as all hell.

Winner by Pinfall: Ted DiBiase

2. Now onto the NXT tapings. This was pure garbage. I was ready to fall asleep at any moment watching this. So if you care, here are the highlights:

Darren Young & Titus O'Neil vs Alex Riley & Percy Watson

Riley was very over with the crowd and he is another guy who falls into the same group as DiBiase. More potential than management seems to realize.

Winners: Young and O'Neil

Post match Titus O'Neil takes the mic and challenges Watson to a match next week. I'll be sure to catch that one. *Sarcasm*

Next up was the worst segment of the whole night. Justin Gabriel, Alicia Fox, and Kaitlyn give Derrick Bateman an in ring intervention. Is he on drugs you say? Nope. He's hooked on some crazy Diva vagina, belonging to Maxine. This whole thing was embarrassing to watch. In the end Kaitlyn kisses Bateman, which brings out Maxine for a cat fight. After they are pulled apart, Maxine kisses Gabriel to make Bateman jealous. Pure garbage.

Michael McGillicutty vs Tyson Kidd

Pretty good match that showed off Kidd's high flying skills. But it wasn't enough.

Winner: Michael McGillicutty

Next up was one of my favorite segments of the night, as Matt Striker is giving a promo, Tyler Reks and Curt Hawkins walk onto the stage and begin to mock Striker. Striker then 'shoots' on both of their wrestling abilities and then announces William Regal as the new GM of NXT. I love Regal and this could almost be enough to get me to start watching NXT...almost. Regal takes the mic and says that NXT is gonna change under his leadership. It seemed that they were alluding to this being the start of a new season, but Im not sure. Hawkins and Reks throw tantrums to end the segment.

Kaitlyn vs Maxine

Are you serious bro? Yep, this is the NXT main event.

The only thing of note was Maxine walking over and kissing Regal before the match. Are all Diva's whores now? This was hinted at earlier during the intervention of Derrick Bateman. Kaitlyn had said that Maxine was only using Bateman until she found someone with more power to latch onto. Enter newly appointed NXT GM Regal.

Winner: Kaitlyn

This ends the NXT tapings.

3. The Great Khali vs Jinder Mahal

This match was taped for this weeks episode of Superstars and it was the 'classic' that you would think that it would be.

Winner: The Great Khali

4. The Smackdown tapings start off with Sheamus in the ring cutting a promo on Daniel Bryan. He says that at Wrestlemania there will be a new World Heavyweight Champion.

Excuse me!!! Vicky Guererro and Dolph Ziggler cut Sheamus off. Ziggler says he should be in the main event at Wrestlemania. Enter Teddy Long who makes a match between the two...right now!

5. Sheamus vs Dolph Ziggler

I can honestly say that just seeing Ziggler in a match, made up for all of the mind numbing trash that I had to sit through earlier. But everyone here knows that I'm a HUGE Ziggler mark.

This was a decent match with Ziggler bumping his ass off as usual. Jack Swagger then ran out to distract Sheamus, but he was taken out. Sheamus then turned into a Zig Zag. Sheamus kicks out at two and ends up hitting the Celtic Cross for the win.

Winner by Pinfall: Sheamus

6. Backstage segment between Big Johnny and Teddy Long. This was hard to hear in the arena, but I think they were swapping cake recipes. Oh and tonight its gonna be Big Show vs Mark Henry.

7. Santino vs Heath Slater

Basic Santino comedy match. Cobra. The end.

Winner by Pinfall: Santino

8. Cody Rhodes comes to the ring for some promo time. The Big Show then comes out, which sends Rhodes fleeing through the crowd. Big Show takes the mic and challenges Rhodes to come back to the ring.

During all of this a fight broke out between two guys right below me. One of their girlfriends even started throwing punches. Im gonna give this fight the award for match of the night.

Teddy Long then comes out and makes Cody Rhodes vs The Big Show for the Intercontinental Title at Wrestlemania. What about Shaq?

9. Big Show vs Mark Henry

WWE continues to use Henry while he is injured and made him look weak at the end of this match. WMD from Show lays Henry out. And just in case Henry doesn't appear completely feeble, Big Show takes FOREVER to go for the pin.

Winner by Pinfall: The Big Show

10. Backstage Teddy Long tells Drew McIntyre that if he loses tonight, he will be fired...for realzies this time.

11. Drew McIntyre vs Justin Gabriel

Gabriel wins with the 450 splash. Teddy Long then appears on the Titan tron and fires McIntyre, who cries in the ring as the crowd does the whole 'hey hey hey goodbye' chant.

My kid really likes Drew McIntyre and I would like to take this time to apologize for rubbing the firing in his face during this. Sorry PJ.

12. Non-title match: Daniel Bryan vs Randy Orton

YES! YES!! YES!!! The hometown boy Daniel Bryan in the main event(s), I can dig it!!

The match itself was good, but short. Orton went for his Hangman's DDT on Bryan, but was distracted by a pyro explosion signaling the arrival of Kane. Orton meets Kane at the bottom of the ramp and they begin to fight. Kane chokeslams Orton in the ring and grabs a mic. The Big Red Machine hovers over a fallen Apex Predator and says "Welcome Back" before dropping the mic on Orton and leaves to end the tapings.

I guess with The Undertaker being over on Raw for his feud with Triple H, Kane has been summoned to Smackdown to replace him. And its a sure bet to see Kane vs Orton at Wrestlemania.

13. Dark Main Event: World Heavyweight Title: Daniel Bryan (c) vs The Big Show

Short match as you would expect for a non-televised world title bout. In the end Cody Rhodes comes out and attacks Big Show to cause a DQ. Rhodes and Bryan then double team Show until Sheamus runs out to make the save. Together the faces clean house and stand tall to end the night.

  1. Hey it's Jeremy's kid,he did rub it in my face about Mcintyre but I forgive him deeply. P.S. when Daniel Bryan came out I got up and did "Yes! Yes!" a few times holding my invisible title, Yays! :D
