Wrestlemania 28 Preview

Wrestlemania. The Showcase of the Immortals. The Granddaddy of Them All. The Biggest Show of the Year. Yes, it is that time where feuds are ended, and news ones begin. On April 1st we finally see the result of a match that has been built since the last Wrestlemania(or 5 years if you ask John Cena) in John Cena versus The Rock. We also get to see if the Undertaker's legendary streak can be ended by everyone's favorite son-in-law, Triple H in a Hell in a Cell match with Shawn Michaels as the guest referee. Those are the two BIG matches. However, there is a very stacked under-card that promises to steal the show in the CM Punk and Chris Jericho WWE championship match to determine who is, in fact(at least in their minds), the best wrestler in the world really is.

We also get to see Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Championship, a 12 man tag team between Team Johnny(John Laurintis' team) and Team Teddy(Teddy Long's team) to see who will be the lone GM of both Smackdown and Raw, Randy Orton vs. Kane, Cody Rhodes vs. The Big Show, and Maria Menounos and Kelly vs. Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres. Below I will give you a rundown of each match and who I think will win.

Kelly Kelly & Maria Menounos vs Beth Phoenix & Eve Torres
The match we have all been wai..I'm sorry, I couldn't even type that as a joke. This match is clearly a throw in match to get the divas on the PPV. Receiving almost no build besides some stupid stuff on Extra, or where ever the hell Menounos works, this match should be short and see Menounos do something that is supposed to be impressive for the win. The only way this match has any relevance is if Kharma shows up to start a program with Beth Phoenix.
Winner: Kelly Kelly & Maria Menounos(Loser: the viewers)

Team Teddy (Santino,R-Truth, Kofi Kingston, Zack Ryder, The Great Khali, Booker T) vs Team Johnny(David Otunga, Mark Henry, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, The Miz, Drew McIntyre)
Now most people think this is an unimportant, card filler match that was designed to get as many superstars a Wrestlemania check. Those people are partially correct. This match is a clown car, but there is actually a important consequence to this match that can't be understated: ONE GM TO RULE THEM ALL. That's right, this match determines who gets to be the lone GM of Raw and Smackdown, Teddy Long or John Laurinitis. I personally hope and think Laurinitis' team wins because he is a toned down version of Vince McMahon and because Teddy Long just isn't that interesting. Hopefully McIntyre can take advantage of being on the card and get out of whatever dog house he has been in.
Winner: Team Johnny

Randy Orton vs Kane
After trying to get John Cena to embrace hate instead of rise above it Kane turned his sights to Randy Orton for making him weak like us humans in a match over a year ago. So basically this is a filler feud for Orton after Wade Barrett got hurt earlier this year in match on Raw. I expect this match to better than most people think as Orton can have a great match whenever he wants to, and what better place than Wrestlemania? I see Orton winning a brutal match.
Winner: Randy Orton

Cody Rhodes(C) vs. The Big Show
Cody Rhodes has carried this feud with his antics of showcasing Big Show's well chronicled failures at Wrestlemania. This match is for the Intercontinental title and is the Big Show's chance to be the first guy to win every active title the WWE had going right now. There are two ways this match can go; it will either be really good or be incredibly lame. With Cody being as good as he has been for the last two years I see it being really good. However, I see Big Show coming out on top.
Winner: Big Show

Daniel Bryan (C) vs. Sheamus
YES! YES! YES! Sorry, but Daniel Bryan has been that damn good since he was won the World Heavyweight Title. Unfortunately, Daniel Bryan has to face backstage favorite Sheamus and will probably lose his title. Hopefully it doesn't mean he loses his push because, as previously stated, he has been one the best parts of the WWE since winning the strap. I will say it right here and now, there is no way this match is going to be bad. Sheamus has improved dramatically in the last two years, and Bryan is in the best in the world discussion no matter who wins the CM Punk/Chris Jericho match. I see Sheamus winning a very entertaining match cleanly.
Winner: Sheamus

CM Punk(C) vs. Chris Jericho
This match is my pick for match of the night. Two of the best wrestlers in the world today on the biggest stage in wrestling, there is no way they don't pull out all the stops to put on the match we all know they are capable of. Unlike most of these matches I expect this feud to go on past Wrestlemania, as I see Jericho winning this match and CM Punk invoking his rematch clause for the next PPV.
Winner: Chris Jericho

Triple H vs. The Undertaker w/ Shawn Michaels as Special Guest Referee (Hell in a Cell)
Most people I talk to about this match say they have no desire to see it. I see their points of not wanting to see a redo of the match from the last Wrestlemania and the lousy build this has received. However, the last match was great and this match doesn't need a lot of build as it could mark the end of the Undertaker's legendary streak at Wrestlemania. While some people firmly believe that Triple H will indeed be the guy who ends the streak I am firmly in the camp that believes that the streak should NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER end. I seek HBK playing a heavy role in this match and potentially costing Triple H the match. Either way, I believe this will be a brutal and bloody match that will exceed the expectations.
Winner: The Undertaker

The Rock vs. John Cena
While most matches on this card have clear cut consequences if either wrestler wins, this match has been built solely on sizzle and very little steak. Don't get me wrong, I am eagerly awaiting this match as much as most people, only for a different reason. I can't wait for this to end. Since January we have been force fed the importance of this match with very little reason to believe there is any type of consequence if either person loses. Sure, the promos were entertaining at first, but over a four month period, both The Rock and Cena, have been calling each other names and mocking each other non-stop, but they still never got around to mentioning anything of substance to make us believe anything will change after this match. Unless there is indeed a best of three series, as has been rumored here on the interwebs, I see Cena walking away victoroous as The Rock has rebuilt his movie career as one the leading action hero leads in Hollywood and, quite frankly doesn't need the WWE anymore.

Regardless of the out come of the main event, I can tell you that this will be a great PPV and will be more than worth the money it costs to buy it. This Wrestlemania after all. It is the Showcase of the Immortals.
